Subject Matter Expert — Fixed-wing or Helicopter (Part-Time, Remote)

Our online content serves thousands of learners across South Africa and beyond, and we’re looking for an experienced aviation professional to help us develop and maintain our training content.
About the role
This is a part-time, fully remote position requiring around 6 hours per week. You’ll work alongside a team of subject matter experts and instructional designers to develop and maintain training content aligned with SACAA regulatory standards — covering qualifications from PPL through to ATPL and beyond.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing clear learning objectives and writing accurate, engaging course content
- Reviewing and updating existing material to keep it current with SACAA requirements
- Setting and maintaining exam questions for student pilots at various licence levels
- Providing input on course structure, layout, and overall learner experience
- Collaborating with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency across the platform
What we’re looking for
- A background in aviation instruction or ground school teaching is highly desirable; we’ll also consider experienced pilots (fixed-wing or helicopter) with strong theoretical knowledge
- A solid understanding of SACAA regulations and South African flight training standards
- Excellent written communication skills and a sharp eye for detail
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines remotely
- Willingness to pick up new online authoring tools (we’ll show you the ropes)
